StreamEast Shutdown: Domains Seized by US Authorities

Learn about reports of Streameast and its related domains seized by homeland security and being shutdown by law enforcement agency.

StreamEast a live streaming site that offers soccer, NFL, MLB, NHL, Cricket, tennis, and other live streams for free. Predominantly Live Sports Streaming Sites are highly imperious as Football, Baseball, Cricket, Tennis, Badminton, Golf, Wrestling, etc, are always running on any corner of this planet.

Unfortunately for sports fans, Homeland Security suddenly seized the website and its relevant domain names.

Instead of live game options, visitors face a message from federal authorities:

This domain name has been seized by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) pursuant to a warrant issued by the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana under the authority of inter alia, Title 18, United States Code, Section 2323.

Domains Seized by US Authorities

The notice stated that the website is accused of illegally distributing copyrighted material, such as sporting events, television shows, movies, music, software, or games.

The notice also mentions of criminal felony with up to five years in prison, fines, and/or more.

Response from Streameast

Despite worst fears coming true, a spokesperson from Streameast swiftly responded on X with a firm statement, expressing they won’t bulge under pressure and assured people that service would continue.

Note: On the time of writing this post, there domain was up and running.

Will I Go to Jail for Illegal Stream and Download?

Streaming illegal content is, of course, a punishable offense. But rules vary from country to country; some states have very stern legislation, while some may have nominal laws. Generally, the government attacks the sites’ publishers to pull out the root cause.

Streaming copyrighted content without permission is against copyright laws in many countries. This can lead to legal action by the copyright holders or authorities. The consequences of illegal streaming vary by location, but it’s best to avoid these activities due to the associated risks and potential consequences.
