Popular video communication platform Google Meet has just become easier to access. Google has added a few new features to make it easier for users to create and join meetings quickly. Ever since people were forced to work from home, Zoom and Google Meet became the preferred mode of communication for many businesses.
In a blog post, Google announced the new features and, also specified which Google products would receive the new features.
Now, Google Meet has rolled out a few small but significant features. Google has expedited the process of creating a new meeting. Earlier, users had to enter their name/nickname to generate a link for the meeting. This link would further be shared by the user to let other participants join. Well, Google has added three new options in the ‘New Meeting’ section.
The ‘New Meeting’ button will now display these options:
- Create a meeting for later: This option will let users create a meeting for later. Users can create a link for the meet much before the intended time of the meeting.
- Start an instant meeting: This option will instantly let a user join a meeting with one click. Users won’t have to wait to join the meeting, and once they click this option, their microphone and camera will be turned on automatically. Users can add other participants to the meeting.
- Schedule in Google Calendar: This option requires users to create an event in Google Calendar with Google Meet details.
It is worth noting that these new meeting options do not have admin control and no end-user settings. Some users may have already received the new update, while others will receive it in the coming days. The new feature will be rolled out gradually starting on 7th January.
The new features will be available in Google Workspace Business Starter G Suite Basic, Business, Education, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, and individual Google Meet users.
Google has stepped up to improve user experience to provide users with a tailored experience. The new features will certainly save time and effort of the users.
