Receiving a blank SMS or MMS message saying “No subject” is quite irritating as many useful messages are without any content. If you are receiving any such contentless message then some obstructive activity is caused by other apps. You may also see a pop-up message saying ‘recipient not specified’. These is the most common problem with Samsung, Micromax, Sony and HTC smartphones. The point here is the message sent to your Android device have content but they are lost as you receive them.
How to Fix “No subject” problem of message on your device ?
This problem of data less message is caused by Hangouts messaging app. Hangouts by Google has permission to view, read and display the SMS messages. Any setting changes in this app have caused the problem. Follow the steps below to solve the problem.
- Open the Settings of your device.
- Look for option called Apps or Manage Apps and open it.
- Under All check for Hangouts app
- Clear Data and cache of Hangouts App
- Problem is solved
- But if it still continues then either uninstall the app or disable the app if it is preinstalled
Note: If you have any other third party app installed on your Android device that can access your SMS or MMS messages then just uninstall the app. The problem will be solved.

So I’ve had the same problems for a while and came across a break through. So what you wanna do is go into your setting and go into the mobile network settings. In there is the option Access Point Names. Check that because my APN WAS ON another APN. I’m on AT&T. So APN should be on ATT Nextgenphone for AT&T users. Hope it helps
I restarted my phone and am now receiving texts and pics again. I also cleared the hangout cache and disabled the app. i hate google.
It fixed the “no subject ” problem when I disabled Hangouts. Thanks very much!

I have a Samsung Galaxy 10 and receive the no subject message all the time, all of a sudden. I unnstalled the hangout app and checked my APN is Nextgenphone, as I am on AT&T. I am still getting this message. I did not do anything recently to add any different messaging apps to my phone but all of a sudden I am getting this error message all the time. Any assistance is appreciated.
I have no hangout app. Is there something else I can try?
I don’t haver hangouts, but I did this for Google chat and it worked! thanks a lot.
🙂
None of this worked for me. I found the answer though. You have to turn on the mobile data. Mine was off for some reason. Simple go to the top of your phone and and pull down the notification bar. Then find the two arrows one pointing up and one pointing down and underneath that it will say mobile data. Touch it and it will turn on and then you will be able to get your pics. I have a Samsung phone.
Sir/Mam, No Subject is a Text SMS issue not a internet-based messaging service
there’s no changes,it’s not deleted
